Daily Maintenance

Daily Maintenance

Blow dirt and dust by a blower or wipe with a cleaning paper or cloth, etc.

For Heavy Stains

For heavy stains, use lens cleaning liquid and a cleaning cloth or paper, etc.

Care should be taken, as using an abrasive lens cleaner might result in removal of the coating.

Cautions in Conducting Maintenance

Cautions in Conducting Maintenance

Never use water or detergent for cleaning the filter.

When not used, store the filter in the filter case, in order to prevent adhesion of dust, and scratches.

CPL Filter - The Angle between the Sun and the Object

The Angle between the Sun and the Object

For Landscape Photography

For Landscape Photography

The polarizing effect is maximized when the direction of the sun makes a right angle with the direction of the lens (direction of shooting).

For Water Surface Photography

For Water Surface Photography

The reflection is best suppressed when the direction of the lens makes an angle of 30-40 degrees with the reflecting surface.

How to Use the Triangular Mark on the Filter Frame in connection with the Position (Angle) of the Sun

How to Use the Triangular Mark on the Filter Frame in connection with the Position (Angle) of the Sun

Please rotate the triangular mark on the filter frame in accordance with the direction of the sun.

CPL Filter - Effective Technique
  1. When changing the composition of a photo vertically or horizontally

When changing the composition by 90 degrees from horizontal to vertical, also turn the front ring of the PL filter by 90 degrees.

  2. Effective on a rainy day or a cloudy day

The PL filter is effective on a sunny day as well as a rainy day or a cloudy day. Especially on a rainy day, a object such as autumn leaves will be more brilliant by removing surface reflections with a PL filter.

  3. About filter factor

Installation of a PL filter results in reducing exposure value. Be careful when taking a photo with the manual mode.

About deterioration

A PL filter will deteriorate due to its structure. PL filters, if degraded, will become reddish, instead of an original grey color. It is recommended that a new PL filter be purchased every 4 to 5 years if you are serious about your work.

Antistatic Coating

Prevents Adhesion of Dirt and Dust, etc.

Prevents adhesion of fine dirt and dust by reducing electrostatic charge. Dirt/dust can be easily blown off by a blower, etc., thereby supporting smooth cleaning.

Water Repellent Coating

Allows Smooth Shooting Even at Waterfronts or under Rainy Conditions

The effect of a water repellent coating repels water droplets. This makes it easy to blow off water droplets if they attach to the filter.

Oil Repellent Coating

Fingerprints can be Easily Wiped Off

Oil repellent coating resists adhesion of stains to the lens, and if you unintentionally touch the lens, the stains can be wiped off easily, thereby enabling easy care.

Dynamic Coating

Special Coating Preventing Deterioration in Image Quality

Reduces reflection further by increasing coating layers.

Optical Glass

High Transmission Polarizing Film

Optical Finder is Bright and Easy to See

Focusing is easier than with conventional polarizing filters, so the polarizing effect can be verified more easily. Fine expression is possible as the shadow portions of the subject aren’t lost as easily.

Blackened Outer Rim

Reduces Internal Reflections

Flare and ghosting are reduced by reducing internal reflections with blackened outer rim of the glass.

Frame Structure

Light-Blocking Ridge

Specially Designed Frame for Preventing Deterioration in Image Quality

Light-blocking Ridge is added to reduce diffused reflections.

Satin Finish & Knurling

Pursues Higher Image Quality and Easier Handling

Reduces flare and ghosting and supports filter attachment.

Ultra-Thin Frame Design

Frame Design with Extremely Low Vignetting

Male Thread: Teflon Coating

Smooth Attachment to / Detachment from the Lens

Reducing strong biting of filter frame for lens during the shooting allows smooth attachment to / detachment from the lens.
